Someday feat. Rohini Chandra

about

A couple words from Rohini Chandra (vocal) about this track:

While first hearing the instrumental version of Sergey’s string-based composition, I was transported to an underwater world.

The song tells the story of two lovers finding adventure and escape in the ocean from the hard-wired and everyday routine that humans to go through on land.

The ocean is vast, deep, and filled with an abundance of life and color. Its waves symbolize the high and low emotions we surf and flow with on a daily basis. The deep waters are also dark and scary and visually symbolize a human’s subconscious mind. One of the lines is therefore “Someday, we will forget.” Thankfully, the journey is not a lonely one as the two lovers have each other to depend on, which inspired the line, “If I drown in this glory, will you save me?”

I imagine the ocean as a place to heal and forget the past. However, it is both a tough and gentle reminder that forgetting is not easy: “The ocean never ceases to torture the corals, but gently caresses after a storm…” The song suggests that escaping, healing, and feeling new can be a glorious and also bittersweet and painful experience.

I leave the listener to travel to the ocean and make their own meaning while listening to this song.

lyrics

Someday, we will see
Someday, we will forget
Escape the land and meet
Beneath the water’s surface

Boundless … limitless
Filled with our pain and beasts…
The poison still lingers from
from the sting of rays in abyss

If I drown in this glory
Will you save me?
If I drown in this glory,
Will you save me?

The ocean never ceases
To torture the corals
But gently caresses after a storm…

The tide lifts us buoyantly
Bravely we swim and sway
with the brine so bitter
we sail back to the bay.

Someday, we will see
Someday, we will forget
Someday, we will see …
